The Springfield, Massachusetts City Council are investigating why a cannabis business enterprise is arranging to commit $200,000 more than a 5-year period on a college environmental plan and park in the city, hoping to identify whether or not the organization produced a deal with the mayor’s workplace in exchange for an operator’s license, according to a WGBH report.
The inquiry comes much less than two weeks immediately after Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia was arrested for attempting to extort at least 4 cannabusinesses for $250,000 every single in exchange for “non-opposition letters” to operate in the city. Correia is alleged to have generated about $600,000 in the scheme.
Springfield City Council President Justin Hurst stated the council was carrying out its “due diligence” to make positive the regional government is “transparent.”
